My mom's advice..."Always smile, because you might have the only smile someone sees today."
Hi! I'm so excited to be a part of AAST! This is my fifteenth year teaching, and this year, I'm excited to be adding new classes to my curriculum. I'm from Lexington, SC and moved to Myrtle Beach just a year ago. I grew up spending time on Folly Beach and North Myrtle Beach, so I'm absolutely thrilled that I'm here. I have two adorable dogs, Minnie and Bogart. They love the beach, too. I'm a National Board Certified Science Teacher, and hold certifications with Project Lead the Way (Bio-technical Engineering and Lunar Exploration) as well. I'm a graduate of the University of South Carolina (Go GAMECOCKS!), with a B.S. in Business Administration, Finance and Winthrop University (Go EAGLES!) with a M.S. in Biology. I love visiting museums and aquariums, reading, shopping, traveling, and searching thrift and antique shops for vintage 1950s glassware.
This year, I'm teaching AP Biology, Marine Science, Physical Science, and Biology 1--just not all at the same time! I thrive on challenges, and believe that every student should have an opportunity to learn from someone who loves learning. I tend to spend my summers as a NBPTS trainer and taking classes to keep up to date with the newest scientific research. I have over 30 hours post Masters in biomedical research, materials science, and technology.
I checked one #bucketlist item off this summer when I was able to spend the afternoon working a Scanning Electron Microscope at Clemson University.
